Festival of Lights 2009

This years Festival of Lights was really like a fest to me. I took the chance to go out on 3 evenings to capture some cool images of the scene. First night was a bit checking out what’s going on. I was way too late and most of the attractions were already off. So I got stuck in Lustgarten, where they were still illuminating the Berliner Dom and where they played some electronic tracks to underline the mood or what. It was nice. Many people out there, with huge cameras and big tripods. Here was my favorite place this year.

Second night, was the earlier announced photo tour with some Twitter friends. We could mobilize 6 (or more?) people and we did the obligatory walk from Alexanderplatz to Brandenburger Tor, with a hook to Gendarmenmarkt. It was a brilliant night out and thanks again, gentlemen! I guess I did not take any good picture in that night, because we were more chatting and fooling around. But really, it was very nice to get to know all the faces behind the profiles and to shake their hands and actually talk to them.

Last night, yesterday, I was visiting my god son in Potsdam and on my way back, I got off the train in Hauptbahnhof and went through the governments district, then along Unter den Linden and further on to Alexanderplatz. Thats a 2 1/2 hours tour and as I walked through the little parks at the water I noticed that it fogs up more and more. So everything got wet and misty. That fucked up many of my shots and also put the cherry on top of some others. Well, as I arrived the Berliner Dom, it became so hazy, that I could hardly see the hand in front of my face. Thats where I made the last shots in my Flickr stream. A few minutes later and the camera could not focus on anything anymore and I am to blind to work without auto focus.

Anyway, If you like to see more, please Click Click through my photo stream on Flickr.
